Day 8 of Prayer & Fasting - 01/18/2024
Scripture to read and think about today: Psalm 139:23-24
Good morning Conduit family!
I hope this time of prayer and fasting has helped you draw closer to God and know Him in a more intimate way.
Today I wanted to share with y’all a simple thought from the book of Psalms. Psalm 139 was written by David who was known as “a man after Gods heart,”… what an amazing way to be thought of. In this chapter, David writes about knowing God and God knowing him in a very deep and intimate way, but I want to focus on the closing of the chapter.
Verses 23-24 says this: “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
During this time of prayer and fasting I want to challenge you take time and ask this question to God, as David does. Ask Him to reveal any blind spots, sins or shortcomings you may have in your life. There may be things that you are not even aware of, or things that you are already working through. But one of the most important things to keep in mind as you spend time with God, is to be reminded that this is not a time of shame or guilt, but a time to find freedom and peace. God isn’t going to highlight these things just to point the finger at you and make feel horrible. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. He highlights these things because He loves us and cares deeply for us. He wants us to experience freedom through Him.
Now the next part gets a little more tricky. It’s what do we do with what is revealed. You have two choices; ignore it and never touch it again and hope things just get better by sweeping it under the rug OR we spend time with God and ask Him to show us next steps on how to conquer what ever it is. God will not leave you alone to try to figure everything out by yourself. He loves us and wants us to draw closer to Him daily.
Today as you pray, ask God to highlight any blind spots you may have, but also have the boldness and courage to ask your Heavenly Father for help to overcome them. Family, know you are not alone in your walk and we love you tremendously and believe in you.
Praying that today is an amazing day filled with God’s goodness and grace.
